Pay Less At UK Shoe Shops

March 29th, 2008

Do you wish that you could pay less when you shop at UK shoe stores? The answer to saving money is to concentrate your efforts on finding shoes more cheaply online.

In some senses, this may seem like obvious advice. After all, many people are aware of the fact that a large number of products can be bought more cheaply using the internet.

Given that this is the case, it almost seems startling that consumers would still opt to use high street stores. There are a number of reasons why the high street still retains such popularity.

Some of the reasons centre upon familiarity. If you’ve been buying your shoes in one or two shops for a number of years then it’s not particularly surprising that you would continue to do so.

There’s also the undoubted feeling that it’s nice to try shoes on before committing to buying them. We like to know that they’ll look good and will also be comfortable.

How could we achieve that without visiting a store? Fortunately, many online retailers now offer extremely flexible returns policies.

The advantage of such policies is that we can purchase a pair of shoes from a popular online retailer, such as Clifford James. We can then try the shoes on in the comfort of our own home.

If the footwear is not up to scratch then we can simply return the product to the retailer, without having to pay.

This has removed some of the concerns about online shoe shopping and is helping to drive the growth in this sector.

If that growth continues then more and more UK consumers will be paying less for their shoes and accessories.

Make sure that you don’t miss out - you could be saving money by purchasing online.

Jump For Joy - The Jumpsuit

March 14th, 2008

This year the jumpsuit is the new dress. It appeared on catwalks all over the place and in all sorts of different guises. At Stella McCartney there were beautiful all in one suits in bright florals, at Sonia Rykiel the all in one suits took on a real seventies feel, overall, there were all sort of jumpsuits from cotton boilersuits to mini dungarees. So what is great about the all in one or jumpsuit or playsuit as it is also known?

They are just so easy. When you wake up slightly late in the morning and just don’t have the time or inclination to spend ages coordinating an outfit.. This is where the all in one suit really comes into its own, no coordination needed, no thought needed except perhaps what accessories and shoes to wear.

There is also a certain practicality about an all in one suit. Probably why they are so great for dressing children in. No problem with top riding up or trousers riding down and showing off half of your backside. Many mums will identify with these problems when carrying, playing with and sorting out young children. I can see why they are called play suits as if one were to wish to play in them they would be just perfect giving the wearer a real sense of freedom.

For Spring Summer 08 the All in One, Playsuit or jumpsuit is a great alternative to the dress. Versatile and easy to wear, there is an all in one available for every occasion from a day at the beach to an evening out. The only problem is deciding which one to get.

Man Made Diamonds and Jewelry Designs

March 9th, 2008

Jewelry designs created from man made diamonds, has enabled the ordinary person in the street to enjoy wearing a piece of this type of quality fashion jewelry.

There are many occasions, such as when on a special holiday or for a particular event in their lives, that a person will treat themselves to a piece of fashion jewelry created with these diamonds, when they would not normally be able to afford diamonds, per say.

Due to the research of Apollo Diamond in Massachusetts, it is now possible to find a man made diamond, not only in a single crystal, but also in a variety of shades of colors, from blues to black.

By nature, crystals are not completely pure. However, impurities are purposefully added to the composition so that the properties of the diamond can be controlled, thus determining the size of the carat. Apollo expanded the growth of their carats sizes over the last few years and due to the sales of man made diamonds at a substantially lower price than mined diamonds, this has had a major effect on the jewelry trade.

Because of the affordability, toughness, and close visual likeness to the mined diamond, man made diamonds have become the most geologically and economically important diamond composite.

These diamonds have their place in jewelry design when, for instance, celebrities, who have, or want, to appear at many gala and Oscar performances, want to wear diamonds but, generally cannot afford the real thing. Another time when these cheaper diamonds may be required, is when a copy of an original mined diamond is needed to be duplicated.

Fashion jewelry is normally designed using less valuable materials. These include glass, plastics and base metals as well as synthetic stones, instead of the more valuable materials such as gems and precious metals.

It has recently become fashionable for people, to wear a lot of cheap gold and diamond pieces of jewelry. A new word had been introduced into the English dictionary to cover this and that word is “bling”. Not a very complimentary description but definitely, understood by those who don’t want to follow this trend! One or two pieces probably would not be so noticeable but more than that and it can look very cheap.

Unlike ‘bling’, fashion jewelry designs of the past, had a certain style. We just have to look back in history at the fashion designers of, for instance, Coco Chanel, who greatly popularized the use of fake jewelry in her years as a fashion designer. She brought fashion jewelry to life with chunky gold chains, jeweled buttons and, also, her infamous fake string of pearls. Her designs, as those of many other famous designers of the past, are now pieces which are very collectible and demand a high monetary value. So much so, that there is a substantial secondary market for these types of jewelry designs and vintage classic pieces.

Who knows what the future of the jewelry design business has in store for us but, with the use of man made diamonds, it will surely be bright.
