What Is Faith?

November 30th, 2008

Yesterday I spent some time reminiscing on some information that was shared with me last year by Minister Winston. I met him at the Brooklyn Public Library while writing about Adam. At that time I was pondering about issues related to the creation of man and of the world. As we spoke, he shared something that hit me like a bomb. He told me that God conceptualized Adam in Genesis 1 before He created him. This truth from Genesis 1 stirred up several thoughts in my spirit. I started to see the following truths more clearly:

GOD CONCEPTUALIZES THINGS BEFORE HE BRINGS THEM INTO REALITY

I had never thought about that before. However, this is the order in which God does things. A review of Gen 1 will indeed confirm this. Picture these events in Genesis 1: 1-3 - “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth and the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” I will pretend that I was there at the creation of the earth. I saw the God family (Father, Son, Spirit) look at the formless, shapeless earth. Somebody sucked their teeth and said something like, “”chu (Jamaican) this is really an ugly, nasty, mess. What would this place look like if we do something like this (trees), and that (colors) and the other etc?”

This is when the creative mind of God began to conceptualize the makeover. God had a concept of what light looked like and the effect that it would bring into being. Stay with me, I’m going somewhere. Scriptures are replete with examples of God’s ability to conceptualize things then bring His purpose into being. For example, Jesus is described in Rev 13: 8 as the “lamb slain from the foundation of the earth.” This was due to His foreknowledge of Adam’s fall. In eph 1: 4, God chose the church “before the foundation of the world.” He knew exactly what He wanted then brought it into being. Don’t forget the role of the Holy Spirit in empowering the concept and bringing it into being (this is why we need the infilling with the Holy Spirit).

GOD SPEAKS WHAT HE SEES IN ORDER TO ACTIVATE THE WORD

In order to bring in to being that which He desires, God then speaks what He sees. This took me to another dimension of understanding the faith of God (as Pastor S. Williams taught us some years ago). God expects to see the thing come into being when He speaks it. This brings us the importance of speaking what God says, because He will certainly perform it when it comes out of His mouth (Isa 55: 11). One of the powerful things about the preaching at Love Fellowship Tabernacle, Brooklyn, NY, is that we speak the word that is revealed by His servants the prophets by using a type of call and response. Now it is vitally important that we continue to speak the word that we hear or see (e.g in dreams etc) until it manifests in the natural realm, because the Lord will either bring it to pass miraculously or will give us the strategies to getting it done (when our participation is required as in buying a house). This is the reason God would keep repeating prophecies by various prophets so the thing would come closer to reality the more that it is spoken.

Please note that writing and speaking have the same power to activate the word of the Lord (logos or rhema) or to bring it into being. This is why the Psalmist said in 45: 1 that “my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.” This is why God told the prophets to write the words and visions that they had seen and/or heard. When you see it, you speak it and bring it closer to reality. This is why he told Haggai in 2: 2 to “write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” Psalm 68: 11 says that “the Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.” When the servant of the Lord speaks or writes the word, God will raise up people to run with the word. This is a multiplication effect so that the energy of the word greatly increases. Do you know that Gabriel responded to the words of Prophet Daniel’s prayer in order to bring clarity? (Dan 9: 19,20). Do you know that the angel of the Lord told Prophet Daniel that when he prayed, his “words were heard, and I am come for thy words?” (Dan 11: 12).

WHAT HAPPENS WITH OUR WORDS?

The answer is found in Dan 9: 19,20; 11: 12; Rev 5: 8, 8: 3 and 4. When we pray and/or speak the word of God, they rise up to Him like a fragrant perfume. These prayers are bottled up in vials/special bottles and God revels in them. In other words, youths, God gets a “high” from the prayers of the beloved. Read Daniel’s experience again. The Lord does not leave your words to fly about in space (like cyber space). He responds by sending angelic help. This is what happened to Daniel when he prayed. God confirmed this in Daniel by sending angels to keep his company when he was in the lion’s den. Can you imagine the look of horror on the angels’ face when Beloved Daniel’s feet hit the floor of the lion’s den? That is what they called him in heaven - beloved Daniel (Dan 10: 11, 19). This is what happened when Jehoshaphat and the Israelites won a war by singing about the goodness of the Lord (2 Chron 20). This is what happened when the fiesty king of Syria sent armies to surround Prophet Elisha (2 Kings 6). According to Eph 1: 6, believers are also beloved. Didn’t the Lord pay a high price for our salvation by giving up His precious life?

THEREFORE THIS IS FAITH - PRACTICAL APPLICATION

Heb 11: 1 says that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Substance (hypostasis) refers to something that has actual existence , while evidence (elegchos) refers to the proof of the thing (Strong’s in blueletterbible.com). How can I possess or have proof that I have something that I only see with the eyes of faith/something that God has placed in me/something given to me by spiritual revelation for example by the prophetic word, dreams and visions etc? What do we mean when we say we believe? You have to act as if you already have the thing! My friend Prophet/Pastor Junior George once told me that when he was praying for a vehicle, he would go into his veranda and get into the vehicle and reverse it out of the driveway. Now his driveway was in full view of the public. Did they think that he was crazy? Yet he has now owned, not one, but two cars (not consecutively). I laughed when he told me this, but I am beginning to understand that this is how God wants us to “believe”.

If you are believing for a home, then you have to speak about it repeatedly. You need to describe it, its location. Does it have a pool, a beautiful lawn? If you are believing for a baby, can you see your baby? Did you see your baby in visions? Do you know the purpose of the baby on earth? DO you know the baby’s name? I cna go on and on. This is why we need to enter the realm of relationship with God where we know that we know that we know that we know. This is the dimension of reality that “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard”. This is not wishful thinking where we fool ourselves into possessing something that is not ours. This is God saying, for example, “Abraham, you are going to have a son. His name will be called Isaac”. This is the dimension of revelation that will take you from vague praying to speaking the specifics of what the Lord has said. I am speaking from personal experience. This is moving from “glory to glory” in revelation. This is when you see the thing as if it in your present reality. The heavenly realm becomes as real as the natural.

GOD SHARES HIS DREAMS WITH US

In order for us to possess what is truely ours, we must find out Gods’ dreams for us. He says that “my counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure” (Isa 46: 10). He reveals to our spirits the things that pertain to His counsel for our lives, our families, cities, nations etc. I feel vastly incompetent to share all the depth that is blowing my mind now, but He understands. An experience that I had later yesterday helped to confirm the lesson I was being taught. As I lay on my bed yesterday morning, I spent about 15-20 minutes pondering about a young Vincentian minister who had become radically changed and filled with the Holy Ghost some years ago while we attended the Lowmans NTC.

His name is Deslon. I thought about his salvation, his life and ministry and wondered what had become of him. As I stood waiting for the B12 about 5 pm, a male ran up to me and hugged me, exclaiming that he had not seen me for such a long time. I did not see him approach and was surprised. Do you know who it was? Yes. Deslon. The meeting was orchestrated by the Lord, because Deslon was actually on another B12 and going in the opposite direction. He only came off to investigate if the person he saw was really me. This was the speed between my conceptualizing and the materialization of the young man. God taught me a lesson. I hope this article has been a blessing to you. Until!

Perfumes - The Pleasant Smell of Success

November 30th, 2008

A perfume is a substance that emits and diffuses a fragrant odor, especially a volatile liquid distilled from flowers or prepared synthetically. Fragrance is always considered a pleasant and exciting word to experience. Rather a fresh and invigorating smell of the sea breeze or an intense aroma of a field of purple lavender, the fragrance provides deep, emotional connections with the world around us. Perfume is a mixture of fragrant oils, aroma compounds, and solvents that are used to give the human body a pleasant smell.

The word perfume that is used today derives from the Latin word “per fumum” and it’s meaning is smoke. Perfumery, which is art of making perfumes, began in ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt but it was developed and further refined by the Romans and Persians. Although perfume and perfumery also existed in East Asia, much of its fragrances are incense based.

Most common perfumes

Creed perfumes- Most of the male fragrances use this and it is perhaps the most popular male fragrance at the moment.

Chanel perfume- It is the best perfume all the time. Today its popularity is increasing very rapidly. It will probably continue to be in a leading position on the world market in the coming years.

Forever perfumes- Alfred Sung is known as the creator of forever perfume. Alfred Sung keeps his designs clean and modern and is always aiming for quality, value and style.

Curious perfumes-This perfume is known as an innovation from both Elizabeth Arden and Britney Spears. It might become a very popular product in the years to come. It’s expected that especially younger woman will be attracted by the perfume because of its fragrance.

Blueberry perfumes-The fragrance of these type of perfumes are brut, weekend, London and Touch. The brut perfume is more popular among people as compare to others. Blueberry perfumes are considered the rising star of the perfume industry.

Be Cool With the Right Designer Cologne

November 29th, 2008

Fast fact: The human nose has 200 unique types of nasal receptors with 50 million neurons! Unlike the four other sensory organs, it is only the nose that sends messages directly to the emotional center of our brains. This explains why a particular scent induces varying reactions from humans - memories and desires, adoration and repulsion, heaven and hell. And even when two people react similarly, the intensity differs!

For this reason, choosing the right designer cologne can be a matter of life and death. Or more appropriately, love and hate.

Criteria for Choosing Colognes

The designer cologne you have been lusting after could or could not be for you. If possible, you have to subject it to rigorous testing. We are not talking about marketing strategies, product reviews, perfect packaging, and designer labels here, though you can also consider aesthetic values and designer prestige part of your criteria albeit as secondary factors only.

More importantly, you have to choose the designer cologne based on the following primary criteria, which you can remember as the 4S:

Smell - If possible, smell the cologne. You have to smell it to determine if you like the tones and notes present. You have to remember that your cologne often tells your personality, your mood and your style.

Skin - Dab a bit of the cologne on your wrist and see how it interacts with your skin. You have to assess if you are allergic to the ingredients and if you like the smell it makes when it comes in contact with your skin. Tip: oily skin reacts best to summertime colognes while dry skin go well with winter colognes.

Size - Colognes come in varying sizes. You have to decide on the size of the designer cologne you want to tote around. You can ask yourself questions like how often you expect to wear it, where will you spray it on, and what purpose do you have for putting it on. However, remember that since colognes are often sprayed, you might need a bigger bottle than you would a perfume.

Shell Out - Like any other market commodity, colognes have varying costs. Obviously, the designer cologne can cost more than the non-designer cologne beside it.

When you have decided to purchase the cologne because it suits your criteria, the next thing to do is to take to heart (or to nose) cologne etiquette. (Yes, sir. Miss Manners can say etiquette and cologne in one breath without gagging)

Mind Your Scent

With scents, you can either be a seduction goddess or a sadistic dominatrix. In this sense, wearing just the right amount of cologne can make or break you.

Layer your scents. Your bath soap, anti-perspirant, aftershave and cologne must have similar notes lest you smell like a walking contradiction.

Spray on your pulse points only. When you literally bathe with the cologne, you are violating the right to fresh air of the people unfortunate to be within inhaling distance. Besides, you come off as cheap and crass! However, if you wish, you can also mist yourself with the designer cologne - spray into the air and walk into it but not if you are wearing silk!

Renew cologne only within 2 hours. Your nose gets used to the scent and your seatmate will be the one suffering from your overpowering smell if you spray more. Have mercy on other noses!

The rule of thumb is that if you cannot smell your cologne despite repeated spraying and dabbing, other people most probably can. Lay off for a while and let your olfactory organ rest.

Designer Colognes Galore!

Depending on the depth of your nose’s desire and the depths of your pockets, you can have the designer cologne of your most aromatic dreams. Consider the following designer-label colognes:

Bvlgari pour Homme Eau de Toilette Spray and Burberry for Men, both very affordable without stinting on quality. Bvlgari’s cologne is a man’s scent with lighter overtones while Burberry’s cologne is crisp.

Must de Cartier pour Homme is pricier but is definitely worth it especially with the tonka beans and vanilla tones.

Hugo by Hugo Boss is definitely one you have to either love or hate - no middle ground! For lovers, it is one of the most romantic colognes you can have in your seduction arsenal.
Polo by Ralph Lauren that every gender simply loves.

What are you waiting for? Get that designer cologne and start raking ‘em ladies (or gents) in with your cool scent!

7 Simple Ways to Be Interesting to People You Meet

November 28th, 2008

In the world of food, it’s said that they first bite is with the eyes. Well, when it comes to meeting new people, a first impression is a lasting impression, and it’s important you make a good one.

After that, you have to work at holding their interest. Let’s look at some steps you can take to ensure you do just that.

1. First impressions count

When you meet someone new, they’re going to size you up before you even open your mouth. So, be sure to bathe, shave (whether it be your face or legs - depending on your gender), apply some aftershave and anti-perspirant and maybe some cologne or perfume.

Pick out a nice outfit; something appropriate for the situation you’re going to be meeting people in, and that is in style. After all, going to a business forum in a suit twenty years out of date is not going to impress people.

As to the situation; if you’re going to a beach volleyball party, long pants, a shirt and a tie is a tad too fancy. So, dress appropriately.

2. Body language

Nothing says “I don’t want to talk to anyone” like sitting off in a corner, your shoulders hunched over, and your arms crossed. To get people interested in talking to you, you need to be out among the crowd and make your body language open to others.

3. Your face

This goes along with body language. If your eyes are cast down to the floor, if your expression is blank and without emotion, that does not signal friendliness to others.

So, paint a small smile on your face, and hold eye contact. Don’t go overboard! A huge ear to ear smile might be seen as forced and downright creepy. Also, holding eye contact too much can be seen as you trying to intimidate anyone you talk to.

4. Be friendly

Speak in a steady, even tone. Don’t whisper, and don’t raise your voice - at least not without reason.

After all, if you start telling an interesting story, you’ll want to give inflection to your voice to make it a really entertaining tale. But, with new people who don’t know you, you don’t want to chance scaring them by going overboard.

5. Ask questions

There’s nothing in the world people like more than talking about themselves. So, ask people about them; and then pay attention to what they say. If you ask good follow-up questions, it shows that you’re paying attention; people like that.

6. Be prepared to participate

Yes, people like to talk about themselves, but eventually they’re going to want to hear from you. So, do a bit of prep work. Study current events like politics, movies, pop culture and be ready to talk about them.

Do you have some amusing stories to tell? Have you just returned from a vacation, and can talk about where you went and what you did? People always enjoy a good story.

7. Don’t monopolize the conversation

You may have a ton of jokes and funny stories to tell, but come up for air once in a while. Let other people talk.

Along those same lines, don’t talk about just one thing; that can get dull.

If the other person brings up another subject, don’t feel the need to steer the conversation back to what you were talking about before; be flexible.

Holding the interest of others can be a challenge, but it’s not impossible. Pay attention to your appearance, your body language, and how you converse with them. Do all these things, and you have a good chance of being a success at interacting with new people.

How To Avoid Creating A Stink At Your Wedding!

November 27th, 2008

Ever had the experience of walking into a room and felt faint from the smell? Just imagine, you will be in a suit or a gown, which is warmer than most of your outfits. There may be some dancing which will make people sweat. Add to it the smell of hundreds of colognes or perfumes and it can be overwhelming experience.

This rule applies to everyone present at your event, not just the wedding party: tone down the perfume. The target is to smell fresh and clean, not to overwhelm the guests with your smell. It is best if they can only detect your cologne if they are about ten inches away from you.

Clue: If people can smell you from across the room, you’ve put on too much cologne. If they can smell you coming long before they see you, yes, you’ve put on too much. If the empty elevator smells like you, you definitely reek!

Keep in mind:

- It pays to find a perfume that truly suits your body chemistry.

- Put the cologne or perfume on your pulse points using just a dab or two. No need to spray the way they do in commercials - we all know those are exaggerations.

- It’s best to put it on your skin not on your clothes. Some scents will stain your gown and that’s something to avoid. Worse, when your cologne evaporates it will leave only the smell of the alcohol.

- Choose a scent that blends well with your soap - it will be more appealing to your new spouse and guests; in fact, check if your favorite manufacturer created a complete line of grooming products. It’s a sure bet that their soap, cologne and any lotion or aftershave will match each other and blend to make you smell beautiful not overpowering.

10 Signs of a Cheating Spouse List - How to Recognize the Behavior

November 25th, 2008

There are times in a relationship when “the magic dies”, or when “the spark is lost”, that we find our partner beginning to stray away from our hearts. Infidelity is often the horrible result. So what are the 10 signs of cheating spouse behavior? And if infidelity has indeed taken our partners away from us, do we want to get out of these relationships, or do we wish to salvage them?

If you suspect infidelity, but are unsure, see if your partner exhibits any of these telltale signs.

10 Signs of Cheating Spouse

He or she has;

* Taken a rather sudden interest in personal appearance - acquires new clothes, changes or pays more-than-usual attention to hairstyle, starts to use (or has changed) perfume, cologne, aftershave, etc., and/or suddenly takes to working out or losing weight.

* Become uncharacteristically argumentative for no apparent reason, easily angered, even blowing up at the slightest comments and storming out of the house, being gone for hours… almost as though the whole thing was planned.

* Taken up new interests or hobbies that are surprisingly out of character, and they don’t include you - explaining that these things are for doing with their workmates or friends.

* Often leaves the room to take phone calls, whispers and then quickly hangs up when you enter the room, and has turned the ringer off on their cell phone - often when you answer the phone, the caller hangs up… the number always being listed as private.

* Immediately changed or closed the program window on the computer when you walk by, suddenly has new e-mail addresses you never knew about, changed the passwords on those that you do know about, stays up at night on the computer even after you’re asleep and erases the history files every time.

* Kept hidden all of the phone and credit card statements - they don’t seem to be anywhere.

* Started to regularly have “girl’s/boy’s nights out” - though she/he never has before.

* Started a new habit of showering immediately upon arriving home late from work.

* Told you he/she was “too tired” to be intimate with you at night… too often.

* Had sudden changes in their work schedule - maybe starting earlier, or ending later, or there are new job related demands; dinners, late meetings, etc. and won’t share details with you, seeming distant and closed off, or being very vague about what goes on at those times they have to return home late.

Of course, there may be logical reasons for some of these 10 signs of cheating spouse behavior, but if your partner is exhibiting most or all of these, then you need to understand that the logical reason could be that your partner is cheating on you.

If this is the case, yet you wish to salvage the relationship and get your partner back to you, and exclusively to you and you alone, then there is more than mere hope… there is help.

Now, too often, I’ve seen ads everywhere for these services that help people get into a new relationship - but I don’t see any for those who want to salvage the relationships they are in right now, that are in trouble. Does everyone want to just take the easy way out and quit so quickly and start anew?

Granted, being faced with cheating is a terrible torture to go through, and in some cases, depending on the situation, it may be best to get out of the relationship and start over with someone new.

But for those relationships with too much good history to let go of… or even those with children involved… for those that are worth salvaging, even in the face of infidelity, there is still hope.

However, it isn’t easy. There are volumes of feelings to weed through, and much needs to be learned (or even relearned) about our partners, and indeed ourselves, in order for the process of reuniting distant hearts to gain a proper foothold.

The problem with this is that it can’t be done alone without the help of someone in the position to give good counsel.

I have found a source for this, and I can only say that it is astounding. What I found is a genuinely giving human being who has helped over 6,100 people, men and women in 67 countries, completely mend their relationships no matter the cause of the breakup - and surprisingly, it was all done by working through the internet. This man has even reversed divorce more than a thousand times.

If you would like to get to know this man, he offers his postal mailing address and his e-mail address on his website, and encourages you to contact him with your situation. To learn more about this brilliant and compassionate miracle worker, please visit my website below, where I introduce him more properly than I can in this article.

Did you know that conventional couples counseling can cost hundreds per session? Often these sessions go for weeks or months - yes, sometimes even years.

Did you also know that the majority of such inordinately expensive counseling cases end in separation and divorce? It would seem, in my very humble opinion, that there is much more focus upon the comfortable ease and acclimation of separation than there is on the virtues of reconciliation.

Would you like a change from all of this in regards to your situation?

Please feel welcome to view the information that I have written on this subject on my website, and do keep standing tall in your heart. There is no situation too dire for hope or help.

Steps Involved in Men’s Skin Care

November 25th, 2008

Many people ask this question: is men’s skin care different from women’s? Although the steps involved are more or less the same, many factors have to be considered that make the overall skin care for men slightly different from that of women’s. This article will give tips on skin care for men.

There are many skin conditions that are equally common in both genders, but some diseases are more common in men and they should be prevented by following a proper skin care routine. This routine involves using products especially made for men by keeping in view their skin texture and problems that may arise.

Some skin care systems are available on the market which can be used by men as well as women. These systems include moisturizers, toners, cleansers and body lotion for proper skin health. It’s a misconception that men do not require proper cleansing and moisturizing. All these steps are required in men’s skin care in order to prevent conditions like acne, wrinkles, dry patches, white spots and blemishes.

The first step in men’s skin care is to properly wash the face to remove the previous day’s dirt and oil. People who do not wash their face often end up with pimples and blemishes on their face. You can use a good soap-free and oil-free face wash for this purpose.

The best time to shave in order to avoid cuts and rashes is right after you have washed your face. Always choose a shaving cream which does not cause any redness or itching. There are shaving creams available on the market made from natural and pure substances. Try to find these products and use them.

An after-shave lotion or toner is also required in men’s skin care. This helps to make the skin smoother and even. It is advisable to use products that do not contain alcohols, fragrances and preservatives. This is because these substances are not good for skin health, especially when the pores are open. They may cause severe itching and a rash.

Similarly, you should also do a little research on the ingredients of a particular product before using it. If you don’t pay attention you may end up wasting a lot of money on ineffective skin care products. The best thing is to read user reviews about a particular product before buying it.

So, you see men’s skin care involves slightly different steps than that of women’s. If you are a man wanting to have a perfect complexion and a problem-free skin, you should follow these steps carefully and regularly.
